Low Price Dragonball: Evolution

It's rather pathetic when I stoop to watching, to say nothing of reviewing, a film like this. Still I feel the two cents burning a hole in my pocket. It must be said....

This film succeeds quite well in breathing life into anime. To put it better, I've never seen such a film that turns actors into anime characters. And frankly dumb characters at that. The story is...blah blah blah. The most fun I had was watching Gokku pretending to be...Japanese? If I were Japanese I'd be insulted. Watching his grandfather, Wandering Meadows (it's a joke), reporting back from Ghostland was even better.

The wicked waste here was Chow Yun-fat. I thought he had lost his mind for doing BULLETPROOF MONK, but I think this film proves he's certifiable writ large. If he don't get a REAL master role soon, I'm giving up on him altogether.

Observe the dragon's balls. How like mini-bowling balls they are, and what memories they brought back to me. Ah, I wasn't a bad bowler, and suddenly it struck me that this film is exactly that: bowling. You train, you hunt for balls but of course you have that one ball that you adore and always use. You have to. Then you meet up with some damned ugly competition and have to bowl a perfect score or drink til you die, or something to that effect. Ah the good old days.

And sadly, I don't think a film ought to do this sort of thing to a viewer. And where was the little Shao-lin monk? Or do I have the wrong cartoon? I agree with Stephen Colbert: if you're going to make films based on old cartoons and video games, do them justice by going back in time. Where's the TETRIS film?Get more detail about Dragonball: Evolution.
